Interrupt! Go ahead.
Updated: Nov 25, 2020
Politely say, "Wait. Can I react to something you just said?" We all know how people (ourselves included) can launch into word-broadcasting mode in conversations and meetings. Most of the time, they are unaware of it.
Great conversations/meetings have a rhythm. Help the group to find its rhythm and get into sync. Be the secret orchestral conductor of the group by gently interrupting when someone is breaking rhythm and then reset the rhythm with your response.
This is leadership.
