When you are preparing to present on an idea that is new to you, you have to make fragile content secure. Writing and memorizing a script may help you survive, but there’s another option.


Talk through the idea out loud or in your mind. Talk through it over and over, letting the words evolve as you try to capture the shape and texture of the idea you hope to transfer to your listeners.


It’s okay to write a few notes out and, in most cases, to reference those notes during your talk. But talking through your content numerous times, even if in your head, will help you to make fragile content secure so you can focus on being powerful and engaging.
